Batesville Swim Team is looking for swimmers for the upcoming 2022 summer season! This season will be focused in on training our swimmers to be better in and out of the water while providing a fun, yet competitive environment.
Head coach Greg McMullen is excited to get the swimmers back in the water stating, “I’ve missed working with all of the kids from the summer team. While they’re are always a lot of them, it’s such a refreshing feeling to see all their smiling faces on deck (even on colder mornings).”
After a strong second place finish at the 2021 SEISA Championship, the team and coaches are ready to put in the work and see what we are capable of producing.
While the board and coaching staff may look a little different this season, Coach McMullen will be leading the charge along with assistant coaches Sidney Howard and Gwen Martin (BHS and BST alum).
Coach Kat Bryan decided to step down from her position on the coaching staff due to personal reasons. The entire BST staff wants to thank her for being a part of the program, and wishes her well.
Swimmer Requirements
While we accept swimmers of all backgrounds and abilities, we have training groups setup to provide each swimmer the appropriate level of instruction.
- Senior: Our senior group is for the high school aged and/or most experienced swimmers. These athletes should know how to swim all four competitive strokes. Swims for 90 minutes, 5-days a week.
- Gold: Gold athletes are expected to be legal in all strokes, starts and turns, but may still need some help in a stroke or two.
- Silver: The silver group should be legal in freestyle and backstroke events with an understanding on all starts and turns while also having the basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly.
- Bronze: The bronze group is our introductory group. Swimmers should be able to swim a 25-yard freestyle and backstroke without assistance. Swimmers in this group will learn to refine their freestyle and backstroke while being introduced to butterfly and breaststroke.
During the registration process, we encourage parents to reach out to the Board Members or Coaching Staff with any questions they may have, particularly in regards to which training groups they should join.
We look forward to seeing you back on deck soon!
